Taurus, the bull, is the constellation which was placed at the vernal equinox between 4000 BCE and 1700 BCE, a period when the symbol of the bull was very powerful in many cultures.

In Greek mythology Zeus took the form of a bull to seduce Europa, while in the Mesopotamian Epic of Ghilgamesh, Ishtar (Venus) sends Taurus to kill Ghilgamesh.

The most important stars from Taurus are Aldebaran, the brightest from Hyades, El Nath, stars from Pleiades and stars from Hyades.

8.1 Aldebaran – 90 Gemini 57′

 

Aldebaran is the brightest star from Taurus, located in the asterism named Hyades, in the left eye of the bull. It is a royal star.

El Nath is the second brightest star from Taurus, located in the northern horn of the bull. It is a one of the most benefic star from Taurus.

8.3 The Pleiades, Alcyone- 00 Gemini 10′

 

The Pleiades is a cluster of seven stars with a great mythological background, placed in the shoulder of the bull. They represent the seven daughters of Atlas and Pleione who committed suicide because of their father everlasting punishment to support the world on his shoulders.

The most representative star is Alcyone and the other six are Maia, Electra, Merope, Taygete, Celaeno, Sterope.

 

Alcyone is the brightest star from Pleiades. The symbolism of Alcyone can be extended to the whole cluster of Pleiades.
