29. Constellation – Scorpio, the scorpion

Scorpio, the scorpion, is a constellation that once contained the stars of Libra, as his claws. Now, because it lost his claws, Scorpio in his main part is not placed on the ecliptic, as is Ophiuchus, for example.

In Greek mythology, Scorpio killed Orion with his sting. They are placed in the heaven in opposition. The great Orion was so proud that he thought he was invincible, but a tiny creature like the scorpion succeeded to kill him.
