Mythology

Cepheus is a member of the royal family which consists in Cepheus the king of Aethiopia, Cassiopeia the queen, Andromeda the princess daughter and Perseus the prince.

Christians called him King Solomon, the Chaldeans saw him as son of Belos, other cultures also associate that place in the sky to the king archetype.

Alderamin is the brightest star from Cepheus, located on the right shoulder of the king.

Mythology

Symbolism

– Andromeda is a princess which needs to be rescued and then marry to live happy like in fairy tales;

– it may also mean a fertile virgin waiting for suitors;

– other myths describe Andromeda as a chained women or a women in a passive, weak position;

– Perseus is saving her or courting her from a powerful position, with his raised sword, showing courage, strength, virility.

The most important stars from Andromeda, in the order of magnitude are: Alpheratz, Mirach, Almach and Adhil.

2.1 Alpheratz – 140 Aries 28′

Alpheratz is the brightest star in Andromeda, located in the neck of the constellation – princess. It seems more related with the constellation Pegasus, than with Andromeda.

3. Constellation – Pisces, the fishes

Mythology

Pisces, the fishes, is a constellation which represents two fishes, symbol of wisdom and feminine qualities. The Babylonians associated the constellation with the goddesses Anunitum and Simmah, the Syrians with the goddess Ashtarte, while the Greeks saw in it the goddess Venus and her son, Cupid.

About 6 BCE, when the spring equinox moved from Aries to Pisces, Christianity appeared with the fishes as his symbol.

The alpha star from Pisces is Al Rischa, but there are no bright stars in this constellation.
